Heart(s) in The Right Place

Another's heart is a rare and fragile gift, hold it gently.

The heartbreaking and courageous story of Kacy Hardenbrook and Jordan Edsall was brought to the attention of the Taylor Hicks' fan communities when Taylor Hicks was named by this special couple as their favorite performer.

Kacy and Jordan had been chosen as this year's (2008) couple to have their Dream Wedding on 'Live With Regis and Kelly', and as their story continued to unfold and the details of their special wedding were revealed, we learned that Taylor had graciously consented to appear and sing their favorite song "The Right Place".

As you will hear in the video below, Taylor said it was an honor to be there for their special day and an honor to sing for them.
This is the tenderest rendition of "The Right Place" I have ever heard, and portrays beautifully the meaning of hearts in the right place.

I can never get enough of Taylor singing RIGHT PLACE..when I opened up here .. that is what he was singing...It always brings tears and chills to my body and soul...When he sang it for the wedding couple on Regis and kelli ,,the only song that I thought could have been any better was "YRSB" that bride would have felt that song deep in her flesh..............

The story of Kacy and Jordan reminded me of a line from the Forrest Gump movie:

"Mama always said life was like a box a chocolates, never know what you're gonna get."

Kacy and Jordan are a wonderful example of how some people have to carry such heavy burdens and yet they are able to remain steadfast in their faith, love and hope that everything will work out. Their determination to overcome this setback proves that even though bad things happen to good people, there can always be a happy ending.

Despite some of the not so positive stories in the press in the past month or so, (dropped by label type of stories which turned out to be incorrect. etc.), which Taylor has had to endure lately, he always stands up and does the right thing. It appears to me that Taylor lives by the Golden Rule. He is a positive role model because he cares about those who are having to face burdens which they did not choose and he tries to lighten the load even if it is for a brief moment in time. His attention to these plights puts focus on worthwhile charities and inspires others to give what they can to help.

Kacy and Jordan as well as their families are an inspiration to others who find themselves in devastating situations.

Taylor did exactly the "right" thing by singing a beautiful renditiion of The Right Place for Kacy and Jordan. Kudos to his friends, Loren and Brian G., for also participating in this wonderful moment. Regis and Kelly - your show's generosity was an incredible gesture in helping Kacy and Jordan begin their married life together.

Well done, Taylor and all the best to Kacy and Jordan!

Thanks, Bloom. The "Pond" is always a wonderful place to visit to gain some perspective on the "real" things in life!

The couple may just think they received a wonderful gift when Taylor sang at their wedding. Not only did he give them a gift, the Soul Patrol and the entire viewing audience got to share in hearing that soulful voice celebrate this couple with "The Right Place". It not just the words in the song, but the soulful, haunting melody that makes this song perfect for Taylor's voice - and with minimal instrumentation - keyboard, sax, harmonica - it just makes this the perfect song for a perfect day or for a special occassion!

Anonymous, I too thought about the possibility of Taylor singing YRSB, it is a beautiful song to sing to a bride, but I'm glad that Jordan and Kacy chose TRP, it is an inspirational song for their story.

Karin, I was so moved by what you said here, that I based a new blog around living by the Golden Rules.

Taylor has been a huge inspiration for me, as have the many people who stories we have learned through his acts of kindness.
