Reading IS Fundamental

Taylor Hicks got caught reading!

WHAT WOULD YOU BE CAUGHT READING?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Taylor got caught reading 'Brother Ray' by Ray Charles and David Ritz, a notable choice!

Once again, Taylor Hicks makes us proud!

'Alabama Gets Caught Reading'

Nine notable native Alabamians were “caught reading” for this year’s “Alabama Gets Caught Reading” poster series being distributed throughout the state by the Alabama Center for the Book at Auburn University.
Among the celebrities caught reading were American Idol Taylor Hicks, Pulitzer-Prize winner Cynthia Tucker, Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson and Heroes actor Ashley Crow.
More than 45,000 posters will be distributed by the Alabama Center for the Book to every school, library and bookstore in the state, as well as literacy centers and other locations serving children and young people.

For more information on the project, or to request a free set of posters while supplies last, please call the Alabama Center for the Book at (334) 844-4946 or acftb@auburn.edu.

Books, to the reading child, are so much more than books ... they are the dreams and knowledge, they are a future, and a past.

What would you catch me reading?

I've been a voracious reader since I first learned to read and have many fond memories of weekly trips to the library with my older sister who encouraged my love of books.
I tend to be drawn to mostly fiction and romantic suspense in particular!
I generally read 4-5 books a week and I am currently finishing up Mary Higgins Clark's 'I'll Be Seeing You' and eagerly anticipating beginning Stephenie Meyer's 'New Moon'.

"The best of a book is not the thought which it contains, but the thought which it suggests; just as the charm of music dwells not in the tones, but in the echoes of our hearts."

Have a great day and remember to not only take time to smell the flowers, but to also take time to curl up with a good book!

Well, I stand here "naked in the jungle" and confess that I am not an avid reader. I envy those who can switch off the computers and TV sets and immerse themselves in the written word.

I have only read 1 1/2 books lately. Heart Full of Soul and 1/2 of The Secret. I rented The Secret DVD so I haven't finished the book yet.

Does reading tutorials count?

I like to read, but haven't spent as much time lately as I would like to. The best book that I have read, which is a true story, is "Follow The River" by James Alexander Thom. It was made into a movie for TV, but was not in the least bit as good as the book is.

A good book, imo, is one that you just can't put down and the characters become your family or friends.

Karin I can't imagine my life without books ... they have been constant companions in my life.
I can sit still for a good book, but the TV has never drawn my interest ... it makes me antsy!
The exception is Taylor on the tube!!!

'Heart Full Of Soul' was a great choice of reading material, I enjoyed it immensely! I didn't need the audio version, I could hear Taylor's voice just fine as I read. :-)

I was very excited to see his book featured prominently in all 4 airport bookstores I was in recently!! What a rush!

Still haven't picked up 'The Secret' but considering checking it out!

And no ... I do not believe that tutorials count!

Maryann I apologize for being so tardy in welcoming you to my new Taylor Hicks' blog. I've been away visiting my daughter and I'm trying to get back on track!

I love your comment about the characters in books. They truly are what makes a good book hard to put down. I especially enjoy when they make me laugh out loud!

I haven't heard of 'Follow The River' and am curious as to why it ranks so high in your esteem.
Should I be checking it out when I check out 'The Secret'?
